Audio and text chat

Once connected to a remote device, you can initiate audio calls or exchange text messages with the remote user. All audio streams and chat messages are protected with end-to-end encryption, guaranteeing complete confidentiality. 

Audio calls 

You can start audio calls in two ways: 

  • From the Expert console: on the Session Panel, using the Audio call button on the toolbar. 
  • From the Remote Desktop window: using the Audio call button on the toolbar. 

The remote user can also start a call using the Audio call button in the SetMe Client application. 

Start an audio call from the SetMe Expert console 

  1. Sign in to the SetMe Expert console. 
  2. Start a new remote session. 
  3. On the Session Panel, click the Audio call button. 

Start an audio call from the Remote Desktop window 

  1. Sign in to the SetMe Expert console. 
  2. Start a new remote session. 
  3. Start remote control or remote view. 
  4. On the toolbar, click the Audio call button.

Text chat 

To send a message, press Enter. To start a new line while composing a message, press Shift+Enter. 

You can send chat messages from the following locations: 

  • Expert console: Text chat tab on the Session Panel. 
  • Remote Desktop window: Text chat panel on the toolbar. 

The remote user can send messages from the following locations: 

  • SetMe Client application. 
  • Remote Desktop window: Text chat panel on the toolbar. 

If the Hide SetMe application on the remote computer option is enabled when connecting to an unattended computer, the Client application is hidden and the remote user will not see the messages you send. For the remote user to see your messages, disable Hide SetMe application on the remote computer on the Session panel > Options tab. The Client application window, containing the chat history, will be displayed on the remote device.

Send chat message from the SetMe Expert console 

  1. Sign in to the SetMe Expert console. 
  2. Start a new remote session. 
  3. On the Session Panel, click the Text chat tab, then type your message and press Enter. 

Send chat message from the Remote Desktop window 

  1. Sign in to the SetMe Expert console. 
  2. Start a new remote session. 
  3. Start remote control or remote view. 
  4. On the toolbar, click the Text chat button, then type your message and press Enter.
